Taking Advantage of the Echo Effect

Supernova remnant Cassiopeia A -- (NASA/CXC/MIT/UMass Amherst)

The spectacular image of the remains of a colossal supernova (shown above) has assisted astronomer Armin Rest (of Harvard University) and his group, with a most cooperative example of a massive display that has been found to have produced light "echos" that bounced off of a dust cloud.

With our new and highly sophisticated equipment, scientists have now been able to capture this visual echo and give ourselves an amazing view of the stellar event, as seen from an entirely different angle --- as it might be seen by an alien intelligence at a different point in space.

This is an entirely new ability that we now have developed.  It allows us to see some of the important space events three-dimensionally --- those events that were able to create an echo effect that could be observed from Earth.
